This Thursday, we held the institutional ceremony for our 50th anniversary at our facilities in Lakuntza, where authorities, clients, suppliers, and cooperative members gathered. The event served both to pay tribute to the cooperative’s five decades of history and to look ahead to the future with new growth projects.

SAKANA Group’s General Manager, Jaime Urcola, opened the ceremony by highlighting the significance of this anniversary and announcing one of SAKANA Group’s most important projects for the coming years: the expansion of the Lakuntza production facilities. The plan includes an additional 2,000 square meters of industrial space and the definitive reclassification of 25,000 m² of land located between the current plant and the municipality of Arbizu. This expansion will make it possible to improve production processes, increase storage and shipping capacity, and secure a strategic reserve for future growth.

Next, the Regional Minister for Industry and Ecological and Digital Business Transition of the Government of Navarre, Mikel Irujo, spoke, emphasizing SAKANA Group’s role as an example of a sustainable and locally rooted industry.

Rafa Idigoras, Managing Director of Soraluce, spoke on behalf of the industrial sector, highlighting the collaboration among Navarrese companies and the strength of the region’s industrial network.

For his part, the President of the cooperative, Gorka Eceolaza, expressed his gratitude to all those who have been part of the project since its beginnings in 1975. “This is not just a company celebrating its 50th anniversary, but a community that has kept alive the values of cooperativism: participation, equality, and social commitment,” he said.

The event also featured remarks from the President of the Parliament of Navarre, Unai Hualde, who acknowledged SAKANA Group’s contribution to the region’s economic and social development.

Finally, a video message from the President of the Government of Navarre, María Chivite, was screened, in which she congratulated the cooperative on its achievements and its role in strengthening Navarre’s industrial model.

The event concluded with the symbolic presentation of a commemorative cast piece and a reception that brought attendees together in a festive atmosphere.
